Ultra-Rare 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R Coupé Up for Auction

Number '252' of only 300 produced by Ford's Special Vehicle Team

The Cobra R, produced in 1993, 1995, and 2000, was designed specifically for the racetrack. The 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R was unique as it was the only Cobra available that year due to horsepower issues with the 1999 Cobra. As the sole SVT Mustang for 2000, only 300 units were built, each featuring a 5.4L/385 HP engine, Tremec T56 transmission, and independent rear suspension with 3.55 gears.

This particular Mustang Cobra R, number ‘252’ of the 300 built, was finished in Performance Red with black Mustang GT trim and Recaro racing seats. It has never been raced and has had only one known previous owner. The car is believed to be the only 2000 Cobra R in the UK and includes a special ‘V8’ number plate.

The car comes with an extensive history file containing all original documents, including the owner’s supplement, logbook, maintenance guide, brochures, and the original limited-edition ‘black binder’ with build documentation. It retains all its original factory parts, with UK-legal headlights and a newer BORLA exhaust system included. The car’s underside was professionally treated to prevent rust, and it comes with a V5C document and other paperwork.

This rare Cobra R is ready for its next collector as it becomes available for bidding on Bonhams Cars’ Goodwood Festival of Speed auction scheduled to take place on July 11-12.
