Shelby American celebrated Carroll Shelby’s 98th birthday by introducing limited-production runs of 98 heavily upgraded Mustang models. In homage to the company’s history, the Shelby Mustang Super Snake pays tribute to the 1960s when Shelby introduced the experimental GT500 Super Snake.
The 5.0L Coyote V-8 engine powers the Super Snake, generating 825 HP with the assistance of a polished Shelby/Whipple twin-rotor supercharger, a tuning upgrade, and high-flow Ford Performance dual exhaust. The 10-speed automatic transmission is equipped with a Shelby oil cooler and Shelby high-performance half shafts designed to handle the Coyote’s powerful output.
The Shelby treatment extends to various performance systems, including the Shelby extreme cooling system with a radiator, aluminum tank, and heat exchanger. Additional features include special rear springs and stabilizer bar in line with the Ford Performance Track Handling Pack, wide Shelby alloy wheels with Michelin tires, and Shelby/Brembo all-wheel disc brakes featuring 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers, the latter safeguarded by a Shelby brake and bearing duct cooling system.
