2015 Ford Mustang GT350R-C

Shortly after unveiling the Shelby GT350 and the track-focused GT350R, Ford Performance introduced the 2015 Shelby GT350R-C as an authentic competition variant designed for the Grand Sport class in IMSA’s Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race series.

To meet the demands of IMSA competition, Multimatic Engineering took the base Shelby GT350R and transformed it into a race-ready machine. This involved a seam-welded unibody, FIA-spec roll cage, a 21-gallon fuel bladder, and an FIA/IMSA-compliant fire-suppression system.

The powertrain, derived from the production Shelby GT350R’s 5.2L flat-plane crankshaft V-8 with a naturally-aspirated 536 HP, underwent modifications for endurance racing. This included a Bosch ECU and a stainless-steel Ford Performance exhaust system.

The Mustang’s fully independent suspension received enhancements with Multimatic’s DSSV setup, featuring revised spring rates, a lower ride height, adjustable dampers, race-spec bushings and ball joints, adjustable anti-roll bars, and 18-inch BBS multi-spoke aluminum wheels. Brembo four-piston calipers, slotted rotors, and a race-tuned Bosch ABS controller comprised the anti-lock braking system.
