Mustang Of The Day: Robert Downey Jr.’s Custom 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302

Actor Robert Downey Jr. commissioned SpeedKore to create a unique 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302, which was showcased at SEMA 2017. Downey Jr. was deeply involved in the car’s creation, resulting in a stunning one-of-a-kind vehicle that blends retro and modern styles and is painted in PPG Khaki Yellow.

The car is equipped with a powerful 5.0L Ford Performance Aluminator V8 engine with a Roush supercharger and a Bowler Performance-prepped T-56 Magnum 6-Speed Transmission, along with other Bowler products such as the All-In-One Harness, Hydraulics, Clutch, Bellhousing & Shifter.

SpeedKore’s 20,000 square foot facility in Grafton, WI, produced custom carbon fiber body panels for the car, including the hood, bumpers, fenders, quarter extensions, deck lid, valence, and deep chin spoiler, resulting in a lighter vehicle. The Detroit Speed aluminum frame and suspension provide a modern touch.

The car’s interior features a bespoke custom steering wheel, a Vintage Air system, an old-school instrument cluster, and brown leather throughout. Gabe’s Street Rods Custom Interiors were responsible for the majority of the interior work
