The 2019 GT350R continued to serve as the premium performance model for the Ford Mustang range. It is a scorching hot track-ready version of the Shelby GT350 and it is up there with the best Mustangs ever made.
Enhancements include a new rear spoiler for reduced drag and added downforce with the newly available Gurney flap. This Mustang also features specially designed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires (they’re extra sticky) that wrap around new 19-inch wheels. These updates required revising the standard adaptive dampers. The Ford Performance team also updated the Shelby’s anti-lock brakes, stability control, and steering system. Inside, the GT350 receives new materials and standard features.
On the inside some small changes included the addition of the 8.0-inch touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a newly optional 12-speaker B&O Play sound system. The exterior color palette adds Velocity Blue and Ford Performance Blue. GT350R eliminates unnecessary interior bits to save weight (this is a track car after all).
The 2019 Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang is still powered by the 5.2L flat plane V8, delivering 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque and paired with a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Its natural aspirated and loves to rev. Get the engine going above 4000 rpm and it screams all the way to its 8250-rpm redline like no other Mustang can. Car & Driver tested the GT350R and got it from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
