The poor GT got no media love in 2001 thanks to all the attention going to the Bullitt, but don’t worry because the GT did get some love from Ford and continued to be a great performance car. Ford continued to work on the refinement and handling of the GT and the 2001 GT showed it. The suspension and ride made for a driving experience that was confidence inspiring.
New for 2001 Ford Mustang GT was the premium and standard edition variants, as well as the convertible equipped cars. All were powered by the 4.6 liter SOHC V8. It was good for 260 horsepower and healthy 302 lbs of torque. With a curb weight of just over 3,400 lbs for the coupe it was capable of zero to 60 mph in mid- 5 seconds and quarter mile times in the 13.9 seconds.
