Live on Bring A Trailer is a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350, a highly coveted example of an iconic automotive classic. Starting with Ford’s already remarkable “K-code” Mustang fastback, Carroll Shelby and his Shelby American team enhanced the GT350 with various suspension improvements, enhanced safety features, and a power boost to the engine, resulting in approximately 35 additional horsepower compared to the standard Ford “Hi-Po” 289 V-8.
This transformation resulted in a production-class racing powerhouse that effortlessly held its own against contemporaneous vehicles like the Sunbeam Tiger, Jaguar E-Type, and, notably, Ford’s arch rival, the Chevrolet Corvette.
This particular 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 is among the 504 street production units constructed for that model year. It was initially delivered to Paradise Ford Sales in Scottsdale, Arizona, on June 28, 1965. The car boasts a Wimbledon White exterior with Guardsman Blue racing stripes, complemented by black vinyl upholstery. Beneath the hood, it packs a 289ci HiPo V8 engine paired with a replacement Ford Toploader four-speed manual transmission.
Additional features include Cragar 15″ cast alloy wheels, a four-barrel Holley carburetor mounted on a high-rise intake manifold, a Detroit locking differential, Kelsey-Hayes ventilated front disc brakes, a fiberglass hood, an R-style front valance, Koni shock absorbers, override traction bars, dual side-exit exhaust outlets, a trunk-mounted battery, a Hurst shifter, and a dash-mounted tachometer.
Chassis SFM5S305 reportedly exchanged hands at a dealer in Tucson, Arizona, before the second owner in California acquired it and added a fold-down rear bench seat. In 2015, the current owner acquired it from a previous owner of four decades in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Recent servicing within the past year included an engine and transmission overhaul, along with the replacement of the shifter assembly.
