Can A Tuned 2016 Ford Mustang GT Beat 2024 Ford Mustang GT In A Drag Race?

When a car manufacturer introduces a new generation of one of its most renowned and beloved sports cars, it’s reasonable to anticipate that the latest model will surpass its predecessor in terms of speed. However, such doesn’t seem to be the case when comparing the performance of the new 2024 Ford Mustang GT with its predecessor, the Mustang GT from the previous generation, in a series of drag races.

Sam CarLegion on YouTube brought together a 2024 Ford Mustang GT and a 2016 Ford Mustang GT for a drag race to see just how fast the S650 model is compared to the outgoing S550 generation.

In its stock form, the 2016 Ford Mustang GT boasted 435 hp and 400 lb-ft when it was initially released. However, the one showcased in this video has undergone modifications, pushing its power to approximately 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, the 2024 Ford Mustang GT is rated at 486 horsepower and 416 pound-feet of torque.

It should be interesting to see how a tuned 2016 Ford Mustang stacks up against the newer and faster Ford Mustang GT.
