Ford Motor Company has announced a new safety recall affecting 110,626 vehicles in the United States after identifying two separate defects that could increase the risk of a crash. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall covers the 2021-2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2024-2026 Ford Mustang, and 2025-2026 Ford Mustang GTD.
The larger recall affects the 2024-2026 Mustang and 2025-2026 Mustang GTD. Ford says that in cold weather, the windshield wiper and washer system may malfunction, reducing driver visibility during rain, snow, or icy conditions. Owners will receive an initial notification letter by July 8, while a second letter will be sent once a permanent repair becomes available, currently expected in March 2027.
A separate recall involves the 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E due to a potential fracture of the rear differential pinion shaft. If the component fails, the vehicle could lose drive power while moving or unexpectedly roll if left in Park without the parking brake engaged. Both scenarios increase the possibility of a crash.
Owners of affected Mach-E models are expected to receive notification letters by July 13, with a follow-up notice planned for December when the repair is ready.
Ford will repair or replace the affected components free of charge at authorized dealerships once replacement parts become available. In the meantime, owners are encouraged to monitor official recall notices and schedule service as soon as they are notified.
The latest recall underscores Ford’s continued efforts to address safety concerns across both its traditional Mustang lineup and its all-electric Mustang Mach-E, helping reduce potential risks before they lead to more serious incidents.
