Ever since the seventh generation Mustang has been released fans have expressed interest in comparing the performance of the new 2024 Ford Mustang against its predecessor on the drag strip. Fortunately, the StangMode YouTube channel organized drag-and-roll races featuring the Ford S650 and S550 Mustangs to show us which of these pony cars is faster in a straight-line race.
The red S550 Mustang GT featured is equipped with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, generating a maximum output of 450 hp and 410 lb-ft of peak torque. This allowed the S550 Mustang to achieve a 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.4 seconds.
It’ll be going up against a nearly-stock, blue 2024 Ford Mustang GT, owned by the host of StangMode. In terms of power, it is expected to deliver 480 hp of maximum output and 415 lb-ft of torque.
With its enhanced performance characteristics, the newer Mustang is anticipated to outperform its older sibling in straight-line competitions, whether in a drag race or a roll race. As predicted, the S650 Mustang emerged as the winner over the S550 Mustang in the race.
