2024 Ford Mustang GT Drag Races A Chevy Camaro

This year marks the conclusion of the production of GM’s iconic muscle car, the Chevrolet Camaro. The manufacturer cites the high cost of developing a new line of cars with a new-generation gasoline engine as the primary reason, signaling that a new Camaro may not be on the horizon anytime soon.

To bid farewell to the Camaro, YouTube channel Sam CarLegion arranged a drag racing showdown with one of its biggest rivals, the 2024 Mustang GT.

The 2024 Ford Mustang GT Premium features an all-aluminum 5.0-liter V8, delivering 486hp and 418 lb.-ft. of torque. According to Car and Driver Magazine, the Mustang can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and complete the quarter-mile in 12.5 seconds at 114 mph.

In contrast, the Chevrolet Camaro’s 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine produces 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. In its factory configuration, the Camaro SS achieves a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 3.9 seconds and covers the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 118 mph.

If you look at these numbers, it sounds like we’re going to have a really close race. So, be sure to watch the video to see which came out as the winner!
