2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Track Test – Edmunds Cars

As most of us have already known by now, the standout feature of the Dark Horse is its 500-horsepower 5.0 Coyote engine. Ford achieved this by fine-tuning the camshaft, crankshaft, and incorporating connecting rods from the GT500. This modification grants the familiar Coyote engine a redline of 7,500 RPM and produces 418 lb-ft of torque.

Ford provides both a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed Tremec as options, catering to enthusiasts. In either case, the Dark Horse comes with an engine oil cooler, transmission cooler, and a cooler for the Torsen rear differential. Coupled with additional brake cooling, this ensures the car can handle continuous laps on the track.

To comprehensively assess the new flagship Mustang, Edmunds Cars took it to the track to give us their full unfiltered opinion about this potent and performance-focused ‘Stang.
