The 2013 Formula Drift season is officially underway as Rd. 1 in Long Beach came to a close Saturday night with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his 845- horsepower Mustang RTR drift car picking up 2nd place hardware. Vaughn’s magical weekend started off on a high note as he qualified 6th overall en-route to his podium finish where he shared the stage with fellow American Chris Forsberg who finished 3rd. The overall winner Daijiro Yoshihara dominated the competition as he qualified 1st overall and eventually followed that up with a 1st place finish.
Vaughn was stoked to finish second with his new team and new ride which comes courtesy of Ford Motor Company, Monster Energy and Nitto Tire. Check below for a full gallery of photos from this weekend’s action.
