Shelby GT500 Takes On A Mercedes AMG GTS And Nissan GTR R35 In A Drag Race

In this video by Sam CarLegion, we witness an exciting drag race featuring a Ford Mustang GT500, Nissan GT-R, and Mercedes-AMG GT S. Although these three vehicles differ significantly on the spec sheet, this matchup demonstrates how their differences translate to the drag strip.

The GT500 boasts a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, delivering an impressive 760 horsepower (566 kilowatts) and 625 pound-feet (847 Newton-meters) of torque to its rear wheels. Its power is harnessed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

On the other hand, the AMG GT S is equipped with a smaller twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, generating 515 horsepower (384 kW) and 494 pound-feet (669 Nm) of torque. It propels the rear wheels through a seven-speed gearbox. The AMG GT S has an advantage over the potent Mustang—it weighs in at 3,627 pounds (1,645 kilograms) compared to the Ford’s 4,171 pounds (1,891 kilograms).

Serving as a middle ground, the Nissan GT-R showcases a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine, powering all four wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The GT-R’s engine produces 565 horsepower (421 kW) and 467 pound-feet (633 Nm) of torque. It carries a weight of 3,915 pounds (1,774 kilograms).
