Revology Cars has expanded its lineup of re-engineered classic Mustangs with the introduction of the 1970 Mustang Boss 302, a modern interpretation of one of Ford’s most celebrated Trans-Am homologation specials. Following the debut of its 1969 Boss 429 last fall, the latest model continues the company’s mission of preserving iconic Mustang heritage while integrating contemporary engineering, performance, and everyday usability.
The original Boss 302, produced exclusively for the 1969 and 1970 model years, earned its reputation as a purpose-built performance machine developed to satisfy Ford’s SCCA Trans-Am racing ambitions. Known for its high-revving V8, competition-focused suspension, and functional aerodynamic features, it became a defining muscle car of its era.
“The Boss 302 was a race car for the street,” says Tom Scarpello, founder and CEO of Revology Cars. “Our goal was to preserve that high-revving, track-focused character while delivering the refinement, reliability, and usability expected of a modern performance car.”
Revology’s version retains the unmistakable styling cues that made the 1970 Boss 302 an icon, including its signature paint treatment, rear deck spoiler, louvered backlite glass, and the distinctive shaker hood, which has been carefully engineered to replicate the original’s movement despite the different intake configuration of its modern powertrain.
Under the hood is Ford’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8 producing 460 horsepower. Featuring an aluminum block and cylinder heads, dual overhead camshafts, 32 valves, advanced electronic fuel injection, and modern engine management, the engine preserves the character of a high-revving V8 while delivering improved performance, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
Unlike the original, which was offered only with a four-speed manual transmission, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic. Standard equipment also includes air conditioning, hydraulic power rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes, significantly enhancing everyday comfort and drivability.
The vehicle rides on an all-new steel body with increased structural rigidity, complemented by a double-wishbone front suspension and a three-link rear suspension featuring a torque arm and Panhard rod. Inside, the cabin combines classic Mustang styling with upgraded materials, improved ergonomics, and modern craftsmanship, reinforcing Revology’s commitment to blending authentic heritage with contemporary performance.
