Recently, Ford announced new additions to the Mustang Family. The new limited-edition 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition, first-ever Mustang Coastal Edition, and Ford Performance-Exclusive Code Orange Paint.
2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition
The first Mustang Shelby GT500 model was released in 1967 and since then, the model has become the embodiment of Mustang performance. It has since continued to build on the Shelby performance legacy.
Having already built a reputation for turning Ford Mustang into powerful road racing machines, American racer and entrepreneur Carroll Shelby took the legendary Mustang GT350 and made it even more formidable. In 1967, he created the first-generation Shelby GT500 using a modified 428-cubic-inch V8 taking inspiration from the 1-2-3 finish of the team at Le Mans.
The original Shelby GT500 was described by Carroll Shelby himself as “the first real car I’m really proud of.” The new Shelby GT500 is as iconic today as it was 55 years ago, , and it is still the most powerful and most advanced Mustang ever.
As a tribute to the original 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500, the limited series 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition fastback was announced by Ford and it will be given a classic and exclusive Brittany Blue finish with two different Wimbledon White stripe options:
• Painted Over-the-Top racing stripes with unique GT500 logo (also available in Absolute Black)
• Vinyl Over-the-Top racing stripes with unique vinyl side stripe featuring GT500 logo
Ford Performance has designed and engineered the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 as the most powerful street-legal Ford to be created. It uses world-class muscle and powertrain technologies to have the performance at par with supercars. It is equipped with first-in-class 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, race-bred control strategies, and advanced drive modes.
Today, November 15, dealer orders for the 2022 Shelby GT500 models will open and it will include the new Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition. The vehicles will go on sale on the Spring of 2022.
The U.S. MSRP of the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 is at $72,900 but it does not include the $1,195 destination fee and the $2,600 Gas Guzzler Tax. For an additional $2,140, you can get the Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition. It is an additional $12,140 to the U.S. MSRP of the Shelby GT500 to get the GT500 Heritage Edition package with hand-painted stripes.
2022 Mustang Coastal Limited Edition
The 2022 model year just expanded their special edition offerings with the new Coastal Limited Edition. It will be available on the 310-turbocharged-horsepower Mustang EcoBoost Premium fastback and convertible.
The new 2022 Mustang Coastal Limited Edition is still the epitome of freedom and it is also uniquely created for those who wishes for more stylish shoreline drives.
The Coastal package comes with 19-inch machined-face aluminum with tarnished dark-painted wheels, distinct vinyl side stripes that trace down the car and over the hood. It also comes with a black grille, signature Mustang rear fender side scoop, pedestal rear spoiler, Coastal instrument panel badge, and Coastal lighted sill plate. The Coastal Edition comes in exclusive Brittany Blue, Rapid Red, and Cyber Orange finishes.
The 2022 Mustang Coastal Edition customer orders are now open at Ford dealers. The vehicles will go on sale Spring 2022. The starting U.S. MSRP of the 2022 Mustang EcoBoost Premium package is at $32,225 and it does not include the $1,195 destination fee. For an additional $1,995, you can avail of the Coastal Limited Edition package.
Shelby GT500 exclusive: the Ford Performance-only Code Orange
Code Orange, the exclusive Ford Performance paint color, is now available for the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500. This finish is also offered on the all-new F-150 Raptor truck, the Le Mans-winning Ford GT Supercar, and the upcoming new Bronco Raptor.
The 2022 Mustang now has eight new colors including the Code Orange. The new colors are: Brittany Blue Metallic (available on the GT500 Heritage and the Coastal Editions only), Atlas Blue Metallic, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue Metallic, Eruption Green Metallic, and Mischievous Purple Metallic.
