Last year, Shelby American introduced a limited edition car called the Shelby GT500 Code Red, which is the first twin-turbo model to be offered by the company. This is also the first time that Shelby American has created a production version of one of its experimental EXP cars.

The Shelby GT500 Code Red differs from the regular Shelby GT500 in terms of its visual appearance and its powerful engine. The beefed-up 5.2-liter V8 engine is boosted by a premium intercooled twin-turbo system, as well as a new fuel system and engine management system, among other high-performance components.

The result is an impressive output of over 1,000 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque when using 93 octane fuel. When using E85 Ethanol, the car can produce up to 1,300 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque. In addition to the upgraded engine, Shelby American has also added a widebody package, new wheels, tires, axles, suspension tuning, interior, badges, carbon fiber hood, and more.

Only 10 units per model year will be made for 2020-2022 Shelby GT500s, and the package starts at $209,995 (not including the base car). Each Code Red purchase comes with membership in Team Shelby, Carroll Shelby’s worldwide club established in 2008, and will be documented in the official Shelby Registry.
