The 2022 Ford Shelby GT500 is the most powerful Mustang available straight from the factory, boasting 760 HP generated by its 5.2L supercharged cross-plane-crank V-8 engine. It holds the distinction of being the most powerful engine ever offered in a Ford production car, known by the moniker “Predator.” This intercooled 32-valve DOHC V-8, equipped with port fuel injection, not only delivers an impressive 760 HP but also provides 625 lb-ft of torque. Power is transmitted to the road through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and each engine carries a plaque signed by its builder.
Ford claims a 0-60 MPH time of 3.4 seconds, 0-100 MPH in 6.9 seconds, an 11.3-second quarter-mile time at 132 MPH, a top speed of 180 MPH, and 0.99 G on the skidpad. The Shelby GT500 achieves these supercar-level performance figures with the assistance of substantial Brembo brakes, bringing the car to a halt from 70 MPH in a mere 150 feet—all from an American-made muscle car.
This 2022 Ford Shelby GT500 comes with the optional $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack, featuring 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, staggered Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires, rear seat deletion, an exposed carbon fiber instrument panel, exposed carbon fiber GT4 track wing, adjustable strut top mounts, Recaro leather-trimmed seats, splitter wickers, and a wheel locking kit. The production run for this variant was limited to just 225 cars for the 2022 model year.
