Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R Is Just As Good As The GT500 For A Lower Price

The folks from Vehicle Virgins on YouTube got their hands on a familiar muscle car the Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R and they quickly bring it for a road test. Their objective was to explore its outstanding qualities, its value-for-money proposition, and its potential superiority over the more powerful and expensive GT500.

While lacking the supercharged might of the ‘Predator’ V8 found in the latest GT500, the engine in the GT350R produces the same 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque as the standard GT350. Upgrades over the base Mustang enable this power to be effectively transferred to the road, whereas the standard Mustang only offers 450 horsepower.

In addition to the GT350, the ‘R’ variant boasts weight-saving features such as lightweight carbon fiber wheels, which reduce weight by 60 pounds. It also incorporates a lowered suspension, enhanced dampers, an enlarged top wing, and a new front splitter. The GT350R is specifically designed to excel on the track, particularly in cornering. A standard 6-speed TREMEC manual transmission and optional seats and air conditioning further emphasize its purpose and intent.
