This 2007 Ford Saleen Mustang Parenelli Jones limited edition, numbered 40 out of only 500 produced, draws its inspiration from the legendary Boss 302 Mustang Trans-Am race car and its accomplished driver who clinched the 1970 season championship.
This remarkable collaboration between two American motorsports icons seamlessly blends the competition style of the first-generation Mustang with the cutting-edge performance technology of the fifth-generation.
Parenelli Jones, one of America’s most successful racers, boasts victories in prestigious events like the Indy 500 and the Baja 1000. Teaming up with builder and former racer Steve Saleen, they infused the fifth-generation Mustang with the raw spirit of the first-generation Trans-Am racing era.
Under the hood, this Trans-Am tribute roars to life with a potent 5.0L V-8 engine, delivering an impressive 400 HP and 390 lb-ft of torque. To enhance its performance, the former 4.6L engine has been equipped with forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods, and ported 3-valve aluminum cylinder heads with performance springs and camshafts.
Saleen’s Powerflash calibration and a Saleen Design shaker hood intake, along with a high-flow inlet tube and performance air filter, fuel the engine’s fire, while the resonant 2.5-inch dual exhaust, featuring dual stainless steel exhaust tips, produces a captivating sound. Power is harnessed by a 5-speed manual transmission, and an 8.8-inch differential with 3.73:1 gears effectively transfers that power to the pavement.
Sporting a striking Grabber Orange paint and period-correct black stripe racing livery, this limited edition Mustang also flaunts a range of special aerodynamic and styling elements. These include an injection-molded TPO front air dam and quarter panels, rear window sports slats, and a ’70s replica rear deck wing.
