A stunning 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof featuring a Lime Metallic finish and a 428ci Super Cobra Jet V8 engine.

Stunning examples of higher-specced vintage Ford Mustang models can fetch close to or over six figures when sold. This is especially true for rare factory-built variations, such as this 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof 428 Super Cobra Jet currently listed on Bring A Trailer.

This Mustang Sportsroof was originally delivered to Wayne Akers Ford in Lake Worth, Florida, and underwent extensive restoration in the 1990s, including being repainted in its original Lime Metallic color. It has since been meticulously maintained and is in excellent condition.

The car is equipped with 14″ steel wheels that match the body color, and Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires. Other exterior features include chrome bumpers, color-keyed racing mirrors, sport slats, and a matte black rear decklid spoiler.

The interior features White Rhino vinyl, front bucket seats with lap belts, an AM radio, a Hurst shifter, a two-spoke steering wheel, a 120-mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer that shows around 47,000 miles.

The car is powered by a 428ci (7.0-liter) Super Cobra Jet V8 engine, which is fed through a shaker hood scoop and four-barrel carb setup, paired with a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear end with 3.91:1 gearing.

This particular 1970 Mustang also comes equipped with Ford’s Drag Pack, which includes features such as a remote-mounted oil cooler and higher ratio rear axle gear. Other notable features include a front sway bar, dual exhaust outlets, a trunk-mounted full-sized spare, and unassisted drum brakes.

The 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof 428 Super Cobra Jet is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer, where it has already reached a bid of $85,000 with only a few hours remaining in the sale.
