FOR SALE: 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback In GT350R-Style

Live now on Bring A Trailer is a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback that’s been modified to look like a Shelby GT350R by its original owners.

In the 1990s, the car underwent a red refinish and was embellished with white racing stripes. Notable equipment includes functional side air intakes, Talbot-style side mirrors, plexiglass rear side windows, and Shelby badging. Additionally, a fiberglass hood and a GT350R-style front valance were installed.

The vehicle rolls on staggered-width 15″ American Racing Daisy wheels fitted with vintage-style Avon racing tires. The car boasts Koni shocks, front disc brakes, and received maintenance in March 2021 which involved replacing the front coil springs, steering linkage boots, and front wheel bearings.

Inside the cabin, low-back bucket seats dressed in black vinyl with pleated inserts, color-coordinated door panels, and carpets complement the interior. A roll bar has been added for safety, and other features include a heater, fire extinguisher, Hurst shifter, AM radio, and latch-and-link lap belts. Notably, Carroll Shelby’s signature can be found on the glovebox door.

The wooden-rimmed steering wheel comes equipped with a Shelby-branded horn button and faces a 140-mph speedometer, a column-mounted Sun Tach tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The odometer reads 46k miles, but only 400 miles have been added by the current owner, and the total mileage is unknown.

The K-Code V8 underwent modification by Motor Masters of Hartford, Wisconsin in 2012, resulting in a displacement of 331ci. Notable equipment includes a Holley four-barrel carburetor, vented valve covers, an MSD ignition box, a finned Cobra oil pan, and a GT350R-style fuel tank.
