DRAG RACE: 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse vs 2020 Shelby GT350R

Hennessey Performance recently tested the capabilities of the new Dark Horse by putting it up against the track-focused GT350R  in a straight-line race. The 2020 Shelby GT350R boasts 526 horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 429 pound-feet of torque at 4,750 rpm. While the the Dark Horse boasts around 500 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque, which puts it at a slight disadvantage.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse may not have a 5.2-liter V8 with a flat-plane crank like the 2020 GT350R, but its fourth-generation Coyote 5.0-liter V8 producing around 500 horsepower should prove formidable enough if these two lines up in a drag race.

The results were certainly not in favor for the new Mustang as it instantly got left behind by the GT350R thanks to its quick acceleration after a rolling start.
