Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition commemorates 55 years since the debut of the original Mustang-based Shelby GT500. Developed as a celebratory finale for the S550 GT500 generation, the Heritage Edition follows the precedent established by the Ford GT Heritage Edition in 2006 and the Shelby GT350 Heritage Edition in 2020.
Its design draws directly from the 1967 GT500, combining Brittany Blue Metallic paint with contrasting Wimbledon White or Absolute Black over-the-top stripes. This example is distinguished by the optional hand-painted Wimbledon White stripes and was additionally specified with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack and Technology Package.
Beneath its distinctive bodywork is Ford’s hand-assembled 5.2-liter Predator V8, factory-rated at 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. The supercharged engine employs an inverted Roots-type supercharger, air-to-liquid intercooling, and an engine oil cooler. Power reaches the rear wheels through a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gearing. An active dual-exhaust system with four polished outlets completes the powertrain package.
The Carbon Fiber Track Pack significantly enhances the GT500’s track capability. It includes exposed-carbon-fiber 20-inch seven-spoke wheels, front splitter wickers, a manually adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing, adjustable strut-top mounts, and the deletion of the rear seats. The wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 305/30 at the front and 315/30 at the rear.
Underneath, the car features four-wheel independent suspension with MagneRide adaptive dampers. Stopping performance comes from red Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers clamping two-piece ventilated rotors. A louvered hood, HID headlights, and LED taillights with sequential turn signals further distinguish the exterior.
Inside, Ebony leather and Miko suede Recaro bucket seats feature Dove accents, while carbon-fiber trim reinforces the performance-focused character. The leather- and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel incorporates paddle shifters and a gray center stripe ahead of a configurable 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional equipment includes dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Ford Track Apps, and center-mounted oil pressure and temperature gauges.
The Technology Package adds a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, SYNC 3 infotainment with voice-activated navigation, and blind-spot monitoring. Collectively, the Heritage Edition’s exclusive styling, extensive carbon-fiber hardware, and 760-hp supercharged V8 make this GT500 a particularly compelling modern interpretation of Shelby’s performance legacy.
