Offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this exceptionally rare 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR represents one of only 60 King of the Road models produced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Shelby American. Designed as the ultimate evolution of the modern Mustang platform, the GT500KR elevates the already formidable Shelby GT500 through a comprehensive package of performance, aerodynamic, and chassis enhancements. Showing just 1,800 miles, this example stands out further as one of only two vehicles finished in the striking Eruption Green Metallic paint scheme.
At the heart of the car lies Ford’s hand-built 5.2-liter supercharged Predator V8, which received extensive upgrades from Shelby American. A Whipple supercharger system, revised induction components, and an upgraded intercooling package transformed the engine’s output to a factory-estimated 900 horsepower when new. Complementing the increased power is a Shelby-specific Borla cat-back exhaust system that enhances both performance and the unmistakable soundtrack of the supercharged V8.
The exterior reflects the GT500KR’s motorsport-inspired focus. Numerous lightweight carbon-fiber components contribute to both visual aggression and aerodynamic efficiency, including the vented hood, front splitter, rear diffuser, rear wing with Gurney flap, rocker extensions, and bumper trim elements. The GT500KR package incorporates Outlaw G-Force axle shafts, adjustable ride-height springs, caster-camber plates, revised anti-roll bars, and a recalibrated MagneRide suspension system engineered to deliver sharper handling characteristics. Stopping power is supplied by high-performance Brembo brakes featuring red-painted calipers.
