Late Model Racecraft (LMR) has developed a stage 1+ package that can push the 760 horsepower 2021 Ford Mustang GT500 into the 1,000 horsepower territory, with minimal modifications required.
The team replaces the stock supercharger decoupler with an uprated version, installs a smaller supercharger clutched pulley, an upgraded belt, larger fuel injectors, a cold air induction kit, and a 170 thermostat before sending the car to the dyno.
The resulting 770 horsepower at the wheels on pump gas and 870 horsepower on E85 means that the Stage 1+ upgrade on E85 generates over 1,000 horsepower at the flywheel.
The cost of the package is estimated to be less than Hennessey’s $27,950, but LMR only offers a 1-year, 12,000-mile warranty compared to Hennessey’s 3-year, 36,000-mile guarantee. It takes LMR just one week to build the upgrade.
