Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Beats The 2023 Raptor R In A Drag Race

The Mustang has long been regarded as an iconic vehicle, and the introduction of Ford’s recent Raptor pickup prompted other companies to develop their own off-road trucks. In this video from StangMode, we get to witness an exciting series of drag races featuring the ultimate versions of these vehicles, aiming to determine the true track king.

Under the hood of the Shelby GT500 resides Ford’s astonishing supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, delivering an impressive 760 horsepower (566 kilowatts) and 625 pound-feet (847 Newton-meters) of torque. Power is channeled to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the Raptor R shares a similar 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, albeit with a different supercharger pulley setup specifically designed for the truck. This robust engine generates 700 hp (521 kW) and 640 lb-ft (867 Nm) of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission connects the engine to all four tires, and the Raptor R boasts a weight of around 6,000 pounds (2,721 kg).

The two cars fought in a series of drag races. In the first race, the Mustang was off to a good start from the starting line, leaving behind the Raptor quickly. The Mustang’s victory is to be expected since it is the lighter and more powerful car between the two.
