In honor of Shelby, Ford unveiled the 2022 Shelby Mustang GT500 Heritage Edition, blending contemporary performance with nostalgic “Shelby-isms.” Without compromising its performance, this special edition charms with retro styling, showcasing a vibrant Brittany Blue finish and customizable racing stripes in Wimbledon White or Absolute Black.
The GT500 Heritage Edition pays tribute to Shelby’s legacy, providing the choice of hand-painted or vinyl racing stripes, along with the option to add custom side stripes. Beneath its attention-grabbing exterior, it boasts a powerful 760-horsepower 5.2L V8 engine and a seven-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission, delivering 625 lb-ft of torque. This model embodies the essence of Shelby’s iconic creations, offering enthusiasts a contemporary experience of classic muscle car nostalgia.
Previous tests have shown that the 2022 GT500 can achieve 0-60 MPH times in just 3.4 seconds. For comparison, this is a significant 3 seconds faster than the 1967 GT500, to which the 2022 Heritage Edition pays homage. The 2022 Shelby Mustang GT500 Heritage Edition has also recorded an impressive ¼ mile time of only 11.3 seconds, with a top speed of 132 MPH.
This 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition, currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer, is a must-have for all Mustang enthusiasts and collectors. It has only 24 miles and has been specified with Wimbledon White over-the-top painted stripes, as well as the Carbon Fiber Track and Technology packages.
Like all other GT500 Heritage Edition examples, this one is also finished in Brittany Blue Metallic over Ebony leather and Miko suede upholstery. It features carbon-fiber 20″ wheels, Brembo brakes, a Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker audio system, and SYNC 3 infotainment with navigation.
