FOR SALE: 1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 Convertible

One of only 335 GT500 convertibles made for the model year

This 1969 Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of only 335 GT500 convertibles made for the model year, showcasing the top-down “Road Car” persona of the final model in the first generation of Shelby Mustangs.

Finished in Silver Jade with white reflective side stripes and powered by the 428/335 HP Cobra Jet engine, this convertible remained with its original owner until 1986, when it was acquired by its current owner. Featuring a 4-speed manual transmission and coveted white interior, the Shelby displays 68k miles on the odometer.

With a new, more muscular 1969 Mustang platform to build upon, Shelby implemented significant modifications to its GT350s and GT500s, incorporating numerous fiberglass body components to distinguish the Shelby models from standard Mustangs.

The instrument panel, largely borrowed from the Mustang Mach 1, boasted a 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer. Shelby enhanced functionality by installing oil pressure and alternator gauges at the front of the center console instead of relying solely on factory warning lights.

Completing the ensemble, this 1969 Shelby GT500 convertible is equipped with power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, 15″ wheels, Lucas driving lights, a power-operated white soft top, white reflective side stripes, the GT Equipment and Interior Decor Group Deluxe packages, a push-button AM radio, and a glovebox-mounted FM receiver.
