Can the Toyota GR Corolla hope to beat a 2024 Ford Mustang GT in a drag race? That is what we are about to find out as the folks from the The Fast Lane Car YouTube channel lined up these two on the drag strip to see which one’s faster.
This video initially started as a drag race and comparison between two hot modern hatchbacks on the market today: a Toyota GR Corolla and Mazda 3. Later in the video though, they decided to pit the Toyota GR Corolla against a 2024 Ford Mustang GT.
It’s worth noting that the 2024 Ford Mustang GT is more powerful than the Toyota GR Corolla. The Mustang makes 486 hp and 420 lb-ft from its 5-liter, fourth-gen Coyote V8. If you pair it with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission, this pony car can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds.
Although the Corolla is at disadvantage when it comes to power output (it only has 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque), it sports an all-wheel drive system and is definitely lighter than the Mustang which should could play a significant role in a quarter-mile drag race.
