FOR SALE: 1967 Ford Mustang GT500CR by Classic Recreations

A modern reinterpretation of the 1967 Shelby GT500, custom-built by Classic Recreations

Hand-built at Classic Recreations’ facility in Yukon, Oklahoma, this GT500CR is produced to exacting standards. It comes equipped with genuine Shelby Performance components, rack-and-pinion steering, a race-inspired suspension setup, Wilwood disc brakes, and more. Each example is meticulously documented and entered into the Shelby Worldwide Registry, securing its legacy within Shelby history.

Now offered for sale on Bring a Trailer, this GT500CR is a modern reimagining of the 1967 Shelby GT500, custom-built by Classic Recreations, LLC. Power comes from a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 fitted with a GT350-spec intake manifold, charge motion control valves (CMCV), and Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), delivering around 500 horsepower through a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission and a 9-inch Fab 9 rear end with Traction-Lok.

To keep that performance planted, the car features a Rod & Customs Mustang II–style front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, paired with a triangulated four-link rear setup, front and rear sway bars, tubular subframe connectors, and adjustable coilovers. Braking is handled by red Wilwood calipers gripping cross-drilled and slotted discs, while staggered Michelin tires are mounted on 18-inch American Racing Halibrand-style wheels.

The car features a fastback body redesigned by Classic Recreations, drawing inspiration from the GT500E seen in the 2000 film Gone in 60 Seconds. It is finished in gray with bold black racing stripes running over the top. The rocker panels house a side-exit exhaust system, while additional exterior elements include hood pins, fog lights mounted in the grille, and GT500CR badging.

Inside, the cabin is equipped with Shelby Scat Rally Series 1000 seats paired with five-point harnesses. It also includes air conditioning from Old Air Products, a custom-built center console, a Hurst shifter, deluxe door panels styled after the 1967 model, keyless entry, and a JVC head unit linked to speakers mounted in the kick panels.
