2002 Ford Mustang GT: Ultimate Guide

2002 Ford Mustang GT

2002 Ford Mustang GT

Not much changed for the 2002 model year Mustang GT. It was a carryover year. Gone was the special Bullitt from the prior year so the GT did all the heavy performance lifting for the brand this year.

Whereas the Premium and Deluxe packages were introduced mid-year for the 2001 Mustang, 2002 Mustangs had them at launch. Below is a good summary of which each package got you.

The GT was once again powered by the sold 4.6 liter V8 and its single overhead cam engine configuration. The two manual transmissions that were available were the T5 and the TR-3650, and the automatic transmission was the 4R70W. The engine was good for 260 horsepower and healthy 302 lbs of torque. With a curb weight of just over 3,400 lbs for the coupe it was capable of zero to 60 mph in mid 5 seconds and quarter mile times in the 13.9 seconds.
