The mythical 1,000+ horsepower twin-turbo Shelby GT500 Mustang dubbed ‘Code Red’ was just that last August with a few details and engine specs coming out. Later in the year a full set of details, photos and a video emerged. Now we have Tom Nelson from Nelson Racing Engines giving us an inside look at the 1,200 horsepower twin-turbo 5.4-liter engine that will power this beast. Nelson goes into intimate details on how the engine is setup and what parts were custom made for this truly one-off build. Check out the video below.
The Shelby GT500 ‘Code Red’ features 20-inch Alcoa wheels, 6 piston Shelby/Baer calipers, 14-inch drilled rotors, 10-point roll cage, Ron Davis radiator, 9 inch Curry rear-end, McLeod twin-disc clutch, twin 61mm Turbonetics turbochargers, a custom intake and a host of other parts.
