Marking six decades since the launch of the legendary Trans Am racing series, Shelby American has unveiled an exclusive new high-performance model that pays tribute to one of the most significant chapters in its motorsport history. Introduced at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, the 2026 Shelby GT350/TA is a limited-production, street-legal track machine developed in partnership with Turn Key Automotive and inspired by the specifications of modern Trans Am SGT competition cars.

Restricted to just 70 examples worldwide, the Shelby GT350/TA combines heritage-driven design with contemporary engineering. At its core is a supercharged powertrain producing more than 830 horsepower, delivered exclusively through a six-speed manual transmission. While fully road legal, the vehicle has been engineered with a clear focus on circuit performance, incorporating technologies and components that preview Shelby’s forthcoming Trans Am-spec race car program.

The model commemorates Shelby American’s pivotal role in Ford’s success during the inaugural 1966 Trans Am season. Shelby-prepared Mustangs helped Ford secure the first-ever Manufacturers’ Championship, while the company’s racing efforts also contributed to Ford’s dominance on the global stage during the same era. The new GT350/TA serves as a modern interpretation of that competitive spirit, blending historical significance with contemporary track-day capability. Building on the foundation of the 2026 Shelby GT350, engineers focused extensively on reducing weight, increasing aerodynamic efficiency, improving chassis response, and enhancing thermal management. The result is a vehicle designed to deliver consistent performance under demanding track conditions.

Aerodynamic revisions include a new carbon-fiber front splitter, revised fender vents, aero dive planes, rocker extensions, and an upgraded rear diffuser. A specially developed Shelby Performance hood integrates carbon-fiber air-extraction elements, while a carbon-fiber tail panel and motorsport-inspired graphics package further distinguish the model. Buyers can select from several exterior finishes, including Grabber Blue, Oxford White, Shadow Black, Orange Fury, Carbonized Gray, and Race Red.

Underneath the bodywork, the GT350/TA receives fully adjustable race-spec suspension with remote-reservoir dampers, Forgeline wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, and a Pro Systems Alcon Endurance braking package. The interior adopts a motorsport-focused approach with a carbon-fiber cockpit structure, integrated safety cage, and additional chassis reinforcements designed to withstand rigorous track use.

Beyond the production vehicle, Shelby American and Turn Key Automotive are simultaneously developing a dedicated Trans Am competition version intended for participation in the 2026 racing season. Turn Key, an established builder of championship-caliber SGT and GT race cars, is leveraging its extensive motorsport expertise to support both the road-going and track-exclusive programs.

Every 2026 Shelby GT350/TA will be assembled in Michigan, documented in the official Shelby Registry, and offered directly through Shelby American. With production capped at only 70 units, the GT350/TA stands as one of the most exclusive modern Shelby models, celebrating 60 years of Trans Am racing while signaling a renewed commitment to competitive motorsport.
