North Carolina Highway Patrol Adds 25 Ford Mustang GTs To Their Fleet

These Mustangs will be use for patrol duties across the state

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is bringing back a piece of history with the addition of 25 all-new Ford Mustang GTs to its fleet. This move echoes the days of the 1980s and 90s when the patrol used Mustang SSPs.

Based on the 2024 Ford Mustang GT, the cars are equipped with a powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine packing 480 horsepower. Outfitted for police work, they’re ready to to chase down violators and keep North Carolina’s highways safe.

While the exact cost remains undisclosed, the patrol assures taxpayers it’s comparable to other vehicles in their fleet. The Mustangs, adorned with silver accents and the iconic state emblem, will be a familiar yet powerful sight patrolling the state’s interstates.
