For 2021, the Super Snake was back with a fresh look and improvements which provides consumers with more bang for their buck than perhaps any other high-output vehicle of the era. Also new for the model year was the extremely limited edition convertible Speedster Edition. The Speedster Edition features a hard top tonneau system that transforms the car into a two-seat roadster. Only 98 examples were built worldwide, celebrating the 98th anniversary of founder Carroll Shelby’s birth and is accompanied by unique striping and badging.
Available now on Bring A Trailer is one of 98 Shelby Super Snake Speedster examples produced by Shelby American as a tribute to Carroll Shelby‘s birth. The car is finished in Iconic Silver and is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 paired to a ten-speed automatic transmission.
What makes this Super Snake even more special is it’s Iconic Silver body that features black vinyl over-the-top stripes and a matching speedster tonneau cover. As with all other Super Snakes, it comes with standard factory options such as dual-intake ram-air steel hood, aluminum front fenders, a rear wing, and a Shelby-specific grille, chin splitter, rear diffuser, fascias, spoilers, taillight panels, Shelby Performance Track Handling suspension, a Shelby front brake and bearing air divert cooling system, Bembo brakes, and 20″ forged aluminum wheels.
Moving to the interior, you can see a cabin upholstered in black leather. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7,400-rpm redline, and a central display screen. There’s also a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and a SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system with navigation.
Under the hood is a Whipple supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with performance air intake, a Shelby Extreme cooling system, an aluminum heat exchanger, Shelby-branded engine caps, a billet throttle body, high-performance fuel injectors, and a Shelby-tuned Borla variable exhaust. The engine pumps out 825 horsepower which is then sent to the rear wheels via a ten-speed automatic transmission, Shelby Performance half shafts, and a limited-slip differential.
