Currently offered without reserve on Bring a Trailer, this extensively reengineered 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback represents a dramatic transformation of one of Ford’s most iconic muscle cars. Originally delivered as a GT fastback equipped with the desirable S-code 390-cubic-inch V8 and four-speed manual transmission, the car underwent a comprehensive custom build completed in 2020 by Schwartz Performance of Harvard, Illinois, blending classic Mustang styling with modern high-performance engineering.
The build adopts the unmistakable Eleanor-inspired appearance through the addition of custom fiberglass bodywork, while a Ford Ingot Silver Metallic finish is accented by matte gray racing stripes and subtle red pinstriping. Numerous exterior enhancements elevate the car beyond a traditional restomod, including laser-cut side-scoop grilles, billet hood and trunk hinges, replacement tinted glass, stainless-steel trim, LED taillights, a Le Mans-style fuel cap, and a diffuser-inspired rear valance. Up front, H4 headlights are joined by PIAA driving lamps, integrated fog lights, LED indicators, quick-release hood pins, and a custom aluminum front splitter.
Beneath the bodywork lies Schwartz Performance’s powder-coated G-Machine chassis, engineered to deliver contemporary handling characteristics. The suspension package features Ridetech adjustable coilovers, tubular suspension links with heim joints, a triangulated four-link rear arrangement, and a splined front sway bar with billet arms. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering further enhances responsiveness and driver confidence.
The Mustang rides on staggered Forgeline Grudge three-piece wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 performance tires, measuring 265/35 up front and a massive 335/30 at the rear. Stopping power comes courtesy of Baer braking components featuring six-piston calipers and 14-inch drilled-and-slotted rotors at all four corners, supplemented by an E-Stopp electronic parking brake system.
Inside, the cabin was meticulously redesigned by Cassin Customizing with black leather upholstery, Alcantara accents, and contrasting orange stitching. Recaro Expert M seats provide adjustable lumbar support, while modern amenities include Vintage Air climate control, keyless entry, Nu-Relics power windows, a Custom Autosound head unit paired with an Alpine audio system, a four-point roll bar, HushMat sound insulation, and Relicate square-weave carpeting. A wood-rimmed steering wheel mounted to a Flaming River tilt column fronts a set of Classic Instruments Carroll Shelby Signature gauges, including a 200-mph speedometer and 10,000-rpm tachometer.
Power comes from a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Ti-VCT Coyote Aluminator crate engine featuring forged internals, aluminum DOHC cylinder heads, Boss 302 valvetrain components, and ARP hardware. A Roush supercharger elevates output to an estimated 670 horsepower. Schwartz Performance fabricated the engine bay structure and induction components, while ceramic-coated headers feed a stainless-steel exhaust system with an X-pipe, SpinTech mufflers, and polished side-exit outlets. Cooling is managed by a Be Cool aluminum radiator with dual SPAL electric fans.
A Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission transfers power through a Ram twin-disc clutch and custom driveshaft to a Moser full-floating 9-inch rear axle equipped with an Eaton Detroit Truetrac differential and 3.70 gearing. Additional upgrades include a stainless fuel tank with Aeromotive fuel delivery components, custom trunk trim panels, LED lighting, and an Optima battery installation, completing a build that successfully merges classic American muscle-car heritage with modern supercar-level performance and refinement.
