Ford is expanding its electric vehicle offerings for law enforcement with the introduction of a factory-built Special Service Vehicle (SSV) version of the 2027 Mustang Mach-E. Based on the entry-level Select trim, the new package combines dual-motor all-wheel drive, an extended-range battery and performance hardware from the Mach-E GT to give police departments and fleet operators a dedicated electric patrol vehicle.
The SSV represents a significant step beyond previous Mustang Mach-E police conversions, providing agencies with a purpose-built configuration directly from the factory rather than requiring aftermarket modifications.
GT Performance Hardware Meets Select-Based Practicality
The 2027 Mustang Mach-E SSV pairs dual-motor electric all-wheel drive with a 91-kWh extended-range battery. It also receives red-caliper Brembo front brakes borrowed from the performance-focused Mach-E GT, providing upgraded braking hardware within a more cost-conscious fleet package.
According to Ford Authority, the combination effectively creates a Select Plus specification, blending the entry-level model’s cabin and equipment with selected GT mechanical components. This approach allows departments to access enhanced performance hardware without purchasing the more expensive GT trim.
Exterior changes distinguish the SSV from the standard electric crossover. These include two-tone front and rear bumpers with body-color upper sections and black lower portions, a gloss-black grille shield, black door cladding, GT badging and an illuminated front pony emblem.
Fleet-Focused Equipment and Driver Assistance
The SSV specification includes 20-inch machined-face alloy wheels with gloss-black pockets, 245/45R20 all-season tires and body-color wheel-arch trim.
Practicality also receives attention. Standard equipment includes heavy-duty front and rear floor liners, a washable and drainable front trunk, a mobile charging cord, Phone As A Key, Unbridled drive mode and a universal garage door opener.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 adds a comprehensive collection of driver-assistance features, including a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors and reverse brake assist. These systems could prove useful when maneuvering in confined urban environments and crowded parking areas.
