Listed for sale on Cars & Bids, this 2021 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 demonstrates how far the modern Mustang platform can be pushed beyond its already formidable factory specification. Ford revived the GT500 for 2020 with Shelby involvement and positioned it as more than a traditional muscle car.
Finished in Carbonized Gray over an Ebony interior, this example combines the GT500’s factory performance hardware with Palm Beach Dyno’s CX1300R package. In standard form, the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 produces 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. The package have increased output to approximately 950 horsepower at the wheels when running the E85 calibration.
The CX1300R package centers on a Whipple 5.2-liter 4V GT500 supercharger system equipped with a Race Port and SPE 170-degree thermostat. Supporting upgrades include Injector Dynamics ID1700-X injectors, a Fore Innovations triple-pump fuel system, Kooks long-tube headers with Green Cats high-flow catalytic converters, an upgraded heat exchanger, and Palm Beach Dyno custom tuning. A Lethal Performance T304 stainless-steel three-inch resonator-delete X-pipe further alters the exhaust system.
The car also carries separately flashed Lund Racing 93-octane and E85 tunes, along with black-painted brake calipers. Its factory specification is equally substantial, including the Technology and Handling packages, a Torsen limited-slip differential, MagneRide adaptive damping, Brembo brakes, Recaro leather-trimmed seats, exposed carbon-fiber interior trim, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.
Power reaches the rear wheels through Ford’s seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Unlike earlier supercharged Mustangs that relied on conventional automatics or manuals, the GT500’s DCT provides rapid gear changes while complementing the car’s track-focused chassis and sophisticated electronic systems.
With roughly 950 wheel horsepower claimed on E85, this GT500 represents a substantial evolution of an already track-capable factory Mustang, combining Shelby-developed performance engineering with aftermarket forced-induction and fuel-system upgrades.
