This high-performance, all-terrain derivative aims to port the “Go Over Any Type of Terrain” (G.O.A.T.) DNA from the F-150 and Bronco into the S650 chassis, positioning Ford to compete in the burgeoning “safari-style” supercar market currently occupied by European exotics.
According to internal leaks and industry projections, the Mustang Raptor will feature a significant mechanical overhaul. The most notable shift is the rumored integration of a sophisticated full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, a first for a combustion-powered production Mustang. This drivetrain is expected to be paired with a specialized version of the 5.0L Coyote V8, though a “Raptor R” variant utilizing the 5.2L supercharged Predator engine remains a distinct possibility for enthusiasts seeking peak power.
The vehicle’s suspension geometry is being engineered for high-speed desert running. Expected upgrades include a two-inch factory lift and the implementation of Fox Live Valve internal bypass shocks, providing adaptive damping that adjusts in real-time to surface irregularities. To accommodate a wider track and long-travel suspension, the Raptor will likely feature aggressive wide-body fender flares and integrated underbody skid plates for vital component protection.
