2014 Ford Mustang GT California Special

Equipment Group 402A back again

The 402A Spec level is the California Special Package was back again for 2014. The California Special returned virtually unchanged which was fine given that it got an exterior makeover in 2013. Mimicking the GT500 that year, the GT/CS’ wide side stripe was moved to the lower body and additional stripes were added to the hood. Interior upgrades included suede-like seat inserts, while black accents were added to the wheels and hood vents.

GT California Special included a unique billet grille with body color surround and Tri-Bar Pony Badge, unique side stripes, unique lower fascia with fog lamps, unique wheels, unique decklid badge with name in faux gas cap, unique instrument panel appliqué finish, unique door panel “Carbon” Inserts, unique front and fear leather seats with “Carbon” inserts, premium carpeted front floor mats with embroidered logo, rear “Diffuser-Style Lower Fascia, pedestal spoiler, decklid tape appliqué, side scoops.

The goal of the 2014 GT/CS continued to be to give the Mustang a more aggressive look. The aggressive matte black front chin spoiler underneath a horizontal bar grill with a galloping thoroughbred off to the right side certainly did that. Signature GT-CS side stripes leading back to a set of side scoops identifying the car as a California Special, meanwhile out back the Mustang GT has a GT500 style diffuser and a larger spoiler on the blacked out deck lid. The Mustang GT-CS rides on a set of 10 spoke two tone alloy wheels branded with the GT logo and the inside will feature a few new trim options as well.

Based on the Mustang GT Premium, the 2014 GT/CS got Ford’s 5.0-liter DOHC V-8 that was good for an easy 420 horsepower.
