1981 Ford Mustang Production & Sales Numbers
A total of 182,552 Mustangs were sold in 1981, down from 271,3322 units in 1980. The 33% decline year on year was the second year of double digit sales drops for the Ford brand. In terms of product mix the coupe and hatchback both sold in equal numbers or around 77k units for the year, with the Ghia version of both the coupe and hatchback each doing between 13k and 14k units.
