You might remember a year ago today I was writing about how it was the worst single month of sales in Ford’s 45 year history of selling the Mustang at just 2,944. A year later sales have turned around to some degree but they have a long way to go to reach their potential of years gone by. For the coming months I would expect much of the same if not lower sales numbers until the 2011 Mustangs start hitting dealer lots. Also expect some heavy incentives on the 2010 models in the next few months to try and clear them out.
Sales of Ford Mustangs for January of 2010 were 4,747 compared to 2,944 (official record monthly low) from January of 2009 showing a 61.2% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 4,747 compared to 2,944 for 2009, which is a 61.2% drop.
Month-to-month sales were down as December 2009 sales were 6,527 compared to January 2010 sales of 4,747 which is an 27% decrease.
Camaro sales were 5,371 and Challenger sales were 1,683 for January 2010.
