From a distance, the idea of an all-electric Mustang would seem far-fetched to some, if not somewhat off-putting. Add in the notion that this Mustang of the future would take on the form of a crossover SUV, and most would cry foul. Nonetheless, the hypothetical design mentioned above is actually quite the reality. The all-electric Mustang Mach-E was unveiled in late 2020, and in all honesty, is a fair bit more impressive than most would have been inclined to assume.
While not quite in line with Carroll Shelby and his ultimate vision, the Mustang Mach-E might be ahead of its time. As reports of the potential discontinued production of internal combustion engine-powered vehicles loom, Ford looks to be pioneering a new way forward, without being forced to leave their premier performance car sitting idly by.

Unlike many of its competitors, Ford has been quite accepting of the current trend toward low-emissions/zero-emissions vehicle production. In fact, the automaker recently pledged to shelf the production and sale of all non-electric vehicles by the year 2030. While this might seem rushed to some, Ford remained grounded in their mission, ultimately releasing the Mustang Mach-E in late 2020.
The Mustang Mach-E is a crossover SUV, which operates under Ford’s new zero-emissions concept. Using an all-electric powertrain, the Mach-E posts staggering performance figures, far exceeding the initial expectations of most consumers. The Mach-E is currently offered in several different model variants, with two optional battery packs. Both rear and all-wheel drive configurations of the Mach-E are also available.
The Mach-E features a base range of 211 miles on a standard battery charge, while the selection of Ford’s extended-range battery will net consumers a total of 314 miles on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Mach-E still proves impressively powerful, with the line’s premium GT-model logging 0-60 MPH times in under 4-seconds.
New for 2022, Ford has equipped the Mustang Mach-E with their new BlueCruise technology. When engaged, BlueCruise allows for hands-free driving on all Ford-mapped roadways. This mimics a technological trend adopted by many manufacturers currently engaged in the all-electric market.

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Select
Ford uses the “Select” moniker to describe the Mustang Mach-E’s base trim. This package comes with 18-inch aluminum wheels, as well as standard head/tail lights of an LED configuration. Also standard is automatic climate control, synthetic leather seating, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Additionally, the Mach-E’s rear seating folds flat as needed to provide extra cargo space.
The Mustang Mach-E Select comes standard with rear-drive motors, though consumers can also opt to purchase the Select in an AWD configuration as well.
2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium
The 2022 Mach-E Premium picks up where the base-model “Select” offering leaves off. Included within the Premium package are 19-inch machined aluminum wheels, premium LED lighting, heated/ventilated front-row seating, and panoramic roof glass. Additional upgrades contained within the Premium package include an enhanced audio system, multi-color ambient lighting, and active park assist.
The 2022 Mustang Mach-E is available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. Additionally, consumers can select between standard and extended-range batteries, though the latter comes at an upcharge.

The 2022 Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 is designed for those looking to hit the open road, both in style and comfort. This specialty package features premium 18-inch wheels, enhanced interior trim, and a host of package-specific badging. The California Route 1 also features many of the same upgraded technical interfaces and in-cabin amenities as can be found in the Mach-E Premium.
New for 2022, the Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 can now be ordered in an AWD configuration. This breaks from year-one production when the Route 1 could only be ordered in RWD. Currently, the Route 1 comes standard with Ford’s extended-range battery pack.
2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT
True to its formal Mustang lineage, the Mach-E, in its premium form, is marketed under Ford’s “GT” designation. The Mach-E GT comes equipped with 20-inch aluminum wheels, custom front/rear bumpers, and model-specific trim. Cumulatively, the Mach-E GT looks far more aggressive than its base-model counterparts and serves as the most refined variant of the Mach-E lineup.
The Mach-E also features an upgraded interior, completed with bolstered front bucket seats, finished in faux suede. This same trim is also utilized within the Mach-E’s door cards and dash. A “GT”-series logo can also be found embossed into the Mach-E’s front center armrest.
Not to be overlooked, is the Mach-E GT’s significant performance pedigree. In its GT configuration, the Mach-E proves capable of dishing out 480 horsepower, as well as 600 lb-ft of torque. Perhaps more astonishing is the Mach E GT’s 3.5-second 0-60 MPH time.
