2014 Ford Mustang Club of America Special Edition

Hertz partnered with the legendary racing team, Team Penske, to offer 150 special black and yellow Hertz-Penske Mustang GTs for rental through the Hertz Adrenaline Collection, which commanded a premium $130-per-day rate.

The Hertz Penske GT was a 2014 Mustang GT, optioned up with all the good stuff like Brembos, Recaro seats, the Handling Pack, CAI tune, supplemental gauges, and GT500 mufflers to name a few. They were all black, dressed up with Penske Racing fender badges, a screaming yellow offset hood/roof stripe, and the cool looking door stripe. Only 150 were built and most of the cars were automatic with only the first 10 cars being manuals.

Each Hertz-Penske GT started life as a black 2014 Mustang GT Premium powered by the epic 5 liter “Coyote” V-8 with 420 horsepower. They were all optioned with Recaro leather racing seats, Brembo brakes and Electronics Package with navigation. From there, Team Penske installed a Ford Racing Handling Pack suspension with lowered springs and 3.55:1 rear-axle gearing, Ford Racing cold-air induction enhanced by a retuned ECU, Boss 302 Laguna Seca gauge package and custom illuminated door-sill plates.

A performance exhaust system lowered restriction for more horsepower while also providing the Hertz-Penske GTs with a muscular sound. Externally, the Hertz-Penske GTs were recognized by their chin splitter from the Boss 302, Shelby GT500 rear valence with quad exhaust tips, and custom yellow graphics for the hood, roof, decklid and rocker panels. Each car was numbered with a custom badge on the console, driver’s-side shock tower and decal inside the driver’s door jamb.

The car works really well and the enhancements made a big difference. There is plenty of power and the Brembos as always work a charm at slowing this thing down. The handling Pack and the lower stance transforms the car in terms of both looks and handling.
