Digging through the details of  new four-year contract between Ford Motor Company and the United Auto Workers sheds light on the next engine being offered in the 2013 Shelby GT500.  Yesterday Ford and the UAW agreed on a tentative four-year contract that would add $6.2 billion in investments to U.S. factories and among that is a $50 million investment in the Romeo Engine plant to produce a new 5.8-liter supercharged V8.  This engine would most definitely be the one offered in the 2013 Shelby GT500 which should start production early next year.

If you are wondering what kind of horsepower a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 would produce, can you say 600 horsepower.  The number has to be something close to 600 to stay one step ahead of the new ZL1 Camaro offered by Chevrolet which packs 580 horsepower.
