1979 Ford Mustang IMSA

The Mustang IMSA — a competition-type car — is certain to draw crowds to Ford Division displays at major auto shows during 1980. Among the numerous features that enhance the Mustang IMSA’s performance image are a special front air dam, a modified shaker hood with air-extractor louvers, extra-wide fender flares, a deck-mounted wing spoiler, modular 12-by-15-inch wheels with clear plastic covers and super-wide Pirelli P7 tires. The IMSA is powered by Ford’s 2,3-liter turbocharged engine teamed with a four-speed manual transmission.
