1968 Ford Mustang Branded Special

The 1968 Branded Mustang was created by dealerships to spiff up Mustangs for resale. The 1968 Branded Special was simply a kit distributed to Ford dealers across the country to help the sale of the occasional Mustang on a used car lot.

The 1968 “Branded” Mustang was a dealer installed factory option. Two 4″ wide gold stripes run the whole body length on each side. The kit included choice of colored vinyl tops (in 15 colors), side stripes (in 5 colors), quarter panel chrome, and special Branded emblems.

It consists of 4″ round medallions on each roof corner post with a running horse (not the standard mustang) circled with a rope and the word “Branded” under the horse. The other emblem is a shield shaped “Branded ID” emblem on the front fender – up near the triangle vent window.
