New for 2018 is the availability of a convertible if you purchase the EcoBoost Standard Mustang. The V-6 Mustang is no longer available because the I-4 Turbo has more power and most likely there is a cost savings for Ford.
In the mechanical arena is a new 10 speed SelectShift automatic transmission and a MT82-D4 manual transmission for the GT series only. The new manual transmission also includes a dual mass flywheel, twin disc clutch and different gearing. To go along with these new transmission changes is a Port fueled direct injection system at no charge on the V8 engine.Active Valve Performance Exhaust available on GT

New in the interior is a 12″ LCD Digital Instrument Cluster with MyColor® (201 A and 401A): 4 New Aluminum Instrument Panel Finishes; Wrapped Center Console with Accent Stitch (201 A and 401A); Wrapped Knee Bolsters with Accent Stitch (201A and 401A); Heated Steering Wheel (201A and 401A), New Interior Colors- Midnight Blue, Showstopper Red, Tan. Deleted Interior Colors- Dark Saddle, Ebony w/Yellow Jacket Stitch, and Red Line w/Red and Black Stitch. Changed is the MyColor® functionality added to Ambient Lighting feature, Soft Door Rollover is Standard on EcoBoost® Premium and GT Premium. Deleted was the All-Weather Floor Mats.
Safety wise, Ford added Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Forward Collision Warning Lane-Keeping Alert. The also changed the Reverse Sensing System from Optional to Included in 101 A and Standard on EcoBoost® Premium, GT, and GT Premium.
Functional added, changed and deleted items are: New Acoustic-Laminated Windshield now Standard on all Series MagneRide TM Damping System (96B), SYNC® Connect, Remotely start (auto only), lock and unlock vehicle, Schedule specific times to remotely start (auto trans only) vehicle, Locate parked vehicle, Check vehicle status, Wi-Fi® hotspot connects up to 10 devices, Shaker™ Pro Audio System is now available on 200A and 400A Voice-Activated Touchscreen Navigation System is an Option on EcoBoost® 101A and GT 301A.
New packages include the Black Accent Package (60B) available on EcoBoost® and EcoBoost® Premium and requires Painted Black Roof (94B) except when ordered with Shadow Black Paint (G1) or Convertible.
