Mustang GT Package
The 1967 Mustang GT was a special options package which could be added to any of the V8 engine offerings in 1967 with dual exhaust. And it was required with the 271hp 289ci Hi-Po V8. The GT option was offered in 1967 consisted of power front disc brakes, grill mounted fog lights, dual exhaust with quad outlets (except the 200 HP 289), GT gas cap, F70x14 tires, rocker paint stripes and GT or GTA (if an automatic) side emblems. Only with the GT Group was the Competition Handling Package available which consisted of firmer suspension components, limited slip rear axle and fifteen-inch wheels with wire wheel covers. The Competition handling packages was an additional $388 option.

My father and I are original owners of our 67 GT fastback with the 4 barrel A code engine. We have the original order sheet Dad filled out at the dealer’s and all paperwork for the car. The A code 4 barrel engine GT car came with the single exhaust. Only K codes and S codes got the dual exhaust. Non GT cars got downturns, GT equipped cars got the dual chrome outlets on each side of the rear valence with appropriate cut-outs in the valence. We have pics to prove this from summer of ’67 if needed, showing the factory single exhaust with the original F70-14 tires still on the car.
What brand of tires, and are they white wall, black walls, or red line? Thanks Rick
Question: I think the answer is no but we meet a gentleman who claimed to have an all original 1967 428 GT/A. I contend that the original engine was a 289. It’s a beautiful car (aside from the crager’s) and he keeps it very nice. Beautiful car.
